Solutions

Created a welcoming community-first design direction. I helped shape a visual direction that felt friendly, active, and inclusive. The design used strong photography, approachable layouts, clear calls to action, and community-focused messaging to show the YMCA as a place where people connect, grow, and belong.

Built clear pathways for membership, programs, and locations. The website experience was designed around the most important user actions: finding a nearby Y, exploring programs, becoming a member, donating, and getting involved. These pathways helped simplify the user journey and made the site easier to navigate for both new and returning visitors.

YMCA

For the YMCA of Metro Chicago, I helped create the overall creative vision and website design for a community-focused digital experience that showcased the organization’s wide range of centers, members, programs, activities, and services.

The goal was to create a website that felt welcoming, inclusive, easy to navigate, and reflective of the YMCA’s role as more than a fitness center. The YMCA of Metro Chicago positions itself as a “Y for Life,” offering people of all ages and stages programs, support, and community connections that help build healthy minds, bodies, and spirits.

Challenges

Organizing a wide range of locations and services. The YMCA of Metro Chicago includes many community hubs, camps, and program offerings across the Chicago area. The challenge was creating a website structure that allowed users to quickly find a nearby Y, understand what each location offers, and explore programs without feeling overwhelmed.

Serving many different audience types. The site needed to work for families looking for youth programs, adults searching for fitness classes, parents exploring child care, teens looking for mentorship, members managing their account, and new visitors learning about membership options. Each audience had different needs, so the design had to feel simple, flexible, and approachable.
